RECORD BREAKING ENTRIES!
What started out as a relatively small fun walk has ‘evolved’ to become a massive family event on KwaZulu-Natal’s calendar. The Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk is nothing short of a ‘Walking (r)Evolution’ and on 20 May 2012 the people of KwaZulu-Natal will again take up the challenge.

The event’s first few baby steps were taken back in 2004 when just 1800 people participated. This year, a record breaking number of entries have been received. 23 804 people have entered the Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk.

All four routes – the 5km, 10km, 15km or 20km – leave from uShaka Marine World and finish at People’s Park at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. It is the first year that the event will finish at the new stadium – which is a fitting change for an event that has now become the biggest participative event in province.

The activity doesn’t stop at the finish line; the finish zone at People’s Park at the stadium will be jammed packed with hospitality tents, food and refreshment outlets, a kiddies play area and great live entertainment. Home-grown talent Llyod Cele, the renowned Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels and a host of other great performers will take to the stage. They’ll keep walkers entertained as they stream into Peoples Park. So there’s every reason for you and your family to make a day of it!
